Chief Commercial Officer for Innovative Healthcare Business

Our client is seeking a high-quality, proven leader to focus on all commercial functions across the UK and Internationally. Reporting to the CEO the role will centre upon forward-thinking, best in class process and commercial leadership, that will take the business ahead of their driven competitor set.

The CCO will have autonomy around the structure of the sales organisation in the UK and overseas and work to cement strong working relationships across marketing, product, sales and supply chain.There is excellent technical capability and understanding already existing in the business which will be complimentary to the new role where brand launch/scale up experience in pharma internationally is critical.

There is an appetite for change and evolution within the business and therefore broad support for the role being created.

Profile:

The business is seeking to recruit a truly outstanding leader for its Commercial function, someone with huge drive, deep experience, and an inherently entrepreneurial mind-set. The individual needs to swiftly become an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team and interact closely with the Board.

They will lead the day-to-day activity of the front end of the business across multiple geographies and will play a key role in the aggressive acceleration of overall company performance. They should be the natural successor of the CEO.

Key Responsibilties:

  • Developing and leading the implementation of the Commercial strategy which delivers company sales and margin growth targets; including channel and geographical prioritization, the maximising of physical availability, and overall brand guardianship.
  • Taking full responsibility for building an effective, international Sales team (company owned and third-party providers) that will ultimately deliver the business plan.
  • Leading the Marketing Director and team to deliver a world class omni-channel multi-geo patient experience.
  • Leveraging and developing an international network of Key Opinion Leaders for current and future pipeline products, in liaison with the CEO.
  • Supporting the CEO and R+D team on product pipeline and brand development planning.
  • Deliver agile, cost effective supply chain that aligns with ambitious sales and margin plan.

Person Characteristics:

  • Proven Business, Marketing and Sales leadership experience from within the Healthcare sector. It is possible that the individual may have spent part of their career in an adjacent sector such as Retail.
  • Highly credible understanding of the global growth prospects for healthcare manufacturers.
  • A successful track record in bringing a step-change in Sales and Marketing capability to a business. It would be ideal if the individual had delivered this within a P/E type environment.
  • A demonstrable, highly credible personal knowledge of the UK healthcare channel, including a current network with the senior leaders from those businesses.
  • Ideally, the person will have experience of building a sustainable international commercial proposition.
