Chief Procurement Officer

THE ROLE

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building, developing and, most importantly, providing leadership to, a large procurement function ensuring that individuals are supported and challenged in equal measure.
  • Defining the vision and strategy for the procurement function whilst continuing to support a sizeable manufacturing organisation spread across the UK.
  • Fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure buy-in to newly created systems and processes.
  • Ensuring the strategic plan is converted into deliverable category plans which include service level agreements, purchase mechanisms and supplier selection.
  • Overseeing all aspects of central procurement covering all aspects of ingredients, packaging and indirects.
  • Establishing senior level relationships with key strategic suppliers.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • The successful individual will likely have extensive experience gained working in a UK food manufacturing business. A career in procurement would clearly be highly advantageous and it is expected that the individual will have operated at director level within supply chain. They must be recognised within their peer group as an outstanding and high impact leader; and have exceptional levels of emotional intelligence.

  • They need to have a track record of facilitating positive cultural shifts – the building, focusing and inspiring of high-achieving teams, along with proven expertise in, and exposure to, complex change programmes.
  • They are also likely to have a history of expert internal and external stakeholder management and a track record of hands-on delivery as a strategic business partner. They must be able to harness, and accelerate, the momentum within a period of dynamic change – acting as a guiding light for the procurement function, but also the wider business. Finally, they should advocate and be an intrinsic supporter of the organisation’s ambitious sustainability agenda, in which Procurement plays a central role.

If you have the skills and experience and are looking for a new challenge, we would be delighted to see your CV.
