Head of Marketing for a British Drinks Brand

Over the last 5 years, our client has experienced a exceptional period of growth, nearly doubling in size and delivered unprecedented wins in both the On and Off trades. The company now has ambitious targets to become one of the largest independent brewers in their industry in the UK over the next 3 years.

The new Head of Marketing will play a key role in furthering the development of their brand positioning and connection with consumers, all of which is key to unlocking this next phase of growth. They will have 2 direct reports, working in total team of around 40 people across the business. The company is based in Midlands, but remote working is encouraged – with the Managing Director hoping to meet with the successful hire at least 2 days per week in person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Managing Director to establish the marketing strategy for the company, including management of marketing budget.
  • Manage the relationship with creative and digital agencies making sure brand development, marketing clarity and value for money are all being achieved against KPIs.
  • Work with 3rd party category agencies to be responsible for the total trade and category insight.
  • Analyse business performance and recommend business opportunities. Develop and set clear brand plans and priorities.
  • Devise actions to ensure marketing plays a tangible role in successfully achieving company objectives.
  • Create annual marketing plans and recommended budgets in line with business plans and agreed budgets (across digital comms, PR, events & activation, trade marketing and product innovation) to deliver commercial KPIs.
  • Lead and project manage innovation pipeline and new product launches. Develop creative communications briefs and manage the creative process.
  • Plan and execute annual trade marketing plans including website, social media, trade shows, consumer events, packaging & POS materials.
  • Project manage the activation and commercialisation of all brand programs, initiatives and NPD launches within the respective sales channels.
  • Be an ambassador for the brand and act as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Experience Required

  • A strong brand management and customer marketing background, minimum 5 years. FMCG background, preferably with drinks or premium brand awareness. Experience of an entrepreneurial /high-growth company setting.
  • Demonstrated proven success in delivering marketing results in a competitive marketplace.
  • Good understanding of multiple channels to market; grocery, wholesale, on trade etc.
  • Success-driven ATL & BTL marketing initiatives with clear ROI.
  • Excellent digital marketing understanding with an ‘eye for the future’.
  • Relevant experience in e-commerce B2C – digital/on-line direct to consumer markets.
  • A creative flair and an excellent understanding of consumer engagement.
  • Technical working understanding of software packages including; Wordpress, WooCommerce, MailChimp, GA, Google Ads, FB Business Manager.
