Product & Brand Director for a heritage footwear brand

Our client is seeking to appoint a Product & Brand Director to provide the strategic leadership for a very established UK footwear brand, across both Product and Brand, to set the platform for future growth and profitability, in the UK and also internationally

The Role

  • Develop and implement the strategic product roadmap, development, launch and product marketing strategies
  • Fully understand the consumer, analysing how the brand is positioned within the industry landscape and derive targeted consumer insights
  • Define an overall brand strategy derived from a solid understanding of Start-rite’s users, market, product offering and competition
  • Convert brand strategies into brand plans, brand positioning and go-to-market strategies that achieve brand consistency and focus across all channels
  • Work with the in-house marketing team to create effective marketing materials that reflect the overall brand strategy
  • Establish performance specifications, cost and price parameters, market applications and sales estimates
  • Lead the brand & marketing teams to success, ensuring that everyone performs to their full potential
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of product life cycle management, including understanding market demands, technology trends and the competitive field
  • Overall responsibility for product and brand budgets
  • Responsibility for leading and directing the product, brand and marketing teams, overseeing day-to-day operations and development of staff

The Person

  • Proven and demonstrable experience in marketing and/or brand management in a consumer market
  • In-depth knowledge of the shoe making industry and all the latest trends and best practices in marketing
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, insistence on thinking outside of the box and passion for building global brands
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven as well as instinctual thinking
  • Proven ability to devise successful, innovative brand strategies that engage, inform and motivate our audience
  • Proven track record of working on brands at a regional or global level without a dependency on external agencies
  • Highly numerate and process driven, with a structured approach
  • Determination to achieve outstanding results and to lead and inspire team members to do likewise
  • Passion for understanding the consumer and building strategies around them
