Sales Director for internationally renowned branded food company

We are delighted to announce the opportunity to apply for a Sales Director role with internationally renowned branded food company. This is the chance to lead the Sales functions of a highly autonomous organisation during a period of significant investment and growth.

The Role

The Sales Director is the strategic and operational head of the three major trade channels (Grocery, Wholesale, Foodservice) plus the Sales Operations team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the goals and strategies for the sales function including: key performance metrics, evolution of the sales model, prospect targeting and existing customer relationship development. Set the direction, develop, organise and motivate the sales team to deliver the sales plan for the business. With a sales responsibility in excess of £150m, this role has a major contributing impact to the bottom line profitability of the company.

Salary: Six figure salary Attractive Bonus, Company Car, Pension, Health cover, 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), Critical Illness, Death in Service, Group Income protection

Location: Homebased Contract available - must be willing to spend 2/3 days in the Midlands/South Yorkshire area.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking to recruit a person with excellent FMCG sales leadership experience, someone who is already an established leader. Individuals are almost certainly going to be currently working in a well-respected branded food or drink business. Specifically, this person must ideally offer direct experience of a successful period in a similar style branded business, managing a key trading channel/cluster of strategic accounts (particularly Grocery, Wholesale & Convenience).

It is essential that they have the capability to operate as the figurehead for the sales team, working as a valued stakeholder that brings challenge, rigour and pace to the wider organisation. They must be able to demonstrate the personal attributes required, including but not limited to, high emotional intelligence, tact and pragmatism, resilience and a strategic thinking. They will also need to be able to flex their approach, developing long-term plans and participating in global initiatives but also providing a hands-on approach from time to time.

Educated to degree level, the right character for this role will be able to quickly win the respect of the wider team and broader stakeholder group with their energy, knowledge and ambition.

It is foreseen that the individual will need to be based in the office 2/3 days a week within the UK Head Office site (Midlands/South Yorkshire) with the balance of time being spent in trade. There is flexibility for the occasional admin day at home.

The individual will need to have strong emotional intelligence to successfully transition the team during a period of significant change as the business moves into the next phase of their development.
